Judd has come under fire for traveling to Washington, D.C. with her family to participate in a pro-Trump effort to overturn the election results. The violent mob broke into the U.S. Capitol and left several casualties.
The Herald/Review reprinted Judd's full statement here. In it, she writes, "Almost home and to the end of a long journey with family to our nation's capitol. A beautiful place that we the people have built and maintain with our blood sweat and tears.
It was a perfect way to show solidarity and willingness to stand for something that my family and most of my friends feel strongly about. The unacceptable violence was not a part of the plan. It was condemned by all, including the peaceful, tired and cold protesters, our nation's leaders, even President Trump. I also condemn it!"
I'll post thoughts from community members who have submitted letters to the editor in the replies below.
